Themed Homemaking Schedule

I became a full time homemaker 8 years ago and have experimented with various methods of maintaining our home. Recently I decided to switch to a themed schedule, which means I have assigned a theme to each day of the week. Check out the images below for my schedule.

In my schedule above you will see all the different themes that I’ve designed for myself. What this schedule does not include is the normal, every day running of our household which includes:

  • Preparing 3 meals a day for my family

  • Resetting the kitchen after each meal which includes cleaning dishes, resetting coffee maker etc.

  • General tidy of the home / pottering

  • Homeschool work

  • Homeschool co-op commitments

  • My daughter’s extracurricular activities each day

  • Random tasks that present themselves each day

Design your own themed weekly schedule

Group items together

  • Review you’re current weekly routine and identify items that are similar in nature.

discover theme ideas that work for you

Different themes are going to work for different people. Be sure to pick ones that will work for you and your family.

  • Gardening day

  • Baking day

  • Cleaning day

  • Cooking day

  • Errands day

  • Home maintenance day

Review and update when necessary

Different stages of life will call for different themes. I suggest reviewing your schedule and routines once or twice a year to ensure they still work for you, or when things don’t feel like they’re working anymore.

Let me know if you try out this scheduling method. What themes did you impliment? what worked and what didn’t?

Happy organizing!
